It's long been said by residents who've made us their home that Far Horizons Cooperative has been and still is one of Tucson's best kept secrets. As not only do our residents here find the vast array of activities we offer phenomenal, but that we've also been able to keep the cost of living so affordable.

How do we do it?

Well, it's in major part due to the fact that we are not a typical land lease community, but that we are in fact a Cooperative Association. What is a Cooperative Association?

A Cooperative Association, as it refers to Far Horizons Mobile Home Park, is a corporation run and managed by a board of directors elected by it's shareholders. Shareholders then are in turn permitted to purchase an already existing home and live within the community.

Additional Information and basic requirements for living at Far Horizons...


  • Far Horizons Cooperative Association is a 55 and over Cooperative. Meaning that at least ONE Shareholder in each home is to be 55 years of age or older, and NO person under the age of 19 years of age may reside in the park on  permanent basis.
  • Each home is to be OWNER occupied. 
  • The selling price of the home includes the home itself and shares within the cooperative.


  • Far Horizons allows animals if they are assistive or emotional support animals as outlined in the American With Disabilities Act.  


  • There is NO renting and/or NO subletting within the park.


  • Monthly assessments are $198.00 per month for a SINGLEWIDE, and $214.50  per month for a DOUBLEWIDE.
  • Monthly assessments are used for expenses such as for water, sewer, trash and recycle pick-up as well as for maintenance of streets, lighting, select trees and shrub for landscaping, and use of all amenities. (Heating for pool, shuffleboard, courts, billiard and table-tennis, card room, exercise room, library and clubhouse.)

Who runs Far Horizons?

Far Horizons is a cooperation run by a seven member Board of Directors elected by it's shareholders.  We have many  resident volunteers who organize and oversee our activities.



Do I have to buy the shares in the cooperation? 

No.  The shares come with the purchase of a mobile home here in Far Horizons.



Do you have spaces for RV's?  No, we do not have any spaces for RV parking.



Do you have financing available?  No, we do not finance the units.   Cash or a personal loan would be how most units are purchased.



Can I add on to a unit?  Yes, within the scope of our Rules & Regulations and after a city permit is obtained.



Can  a new unit be brought in to replace an older one?  Yes,  you can purchase an older unit, have it removed and replace it with a mobile home (of equivalent size) that is not more than 10 years old.
